Challenge: Gather concept, user interface and usability feedback on a high fidelity in-vehicle infotainment (IVI) prototype. Understand current in-vehicle experiences and identify user needs around in-vehicle tech use within the dense urban environment of Shanghai, China.
Process: Our design team worked with the client, a luxury car company, on concept brainstorming, iterative design and use cases for the prototype. The research plan included eight 2-hour interviews and allowed us to get various types of feedback from users simultaneously in order to meet the client's deadlines.
Outcome: User feedback led to specific design recommendations for the prototype and concepts for further exploration and innovation. Our findings also reinforced the importance of going outside the U.S. to understand how context and culture can impact product design.
