On Thursday, October 7th at 5:30 pm PST, I'll be giving a talk on one of my favorite topics -using LinkedIn for community building and professional development. This meetup is hosted by Portland Design Thinkers and is oriented toward UX and design practitioners, but it'll be relevant for pretty much anyone who is interested in engaging with folks on the platform.

LinkedIn is an essential tool for design professionals in any role and at any point in their career journey. But LinkedIn isn’t just for creating a profile, adding connections, and getting jobs. It’s a communal space for engaging with colleagues in ways that benefit not only our own careers, but the design community and discipline as a whole.
Using examples from the UX domain, Amy will discuss how creating your own original content and interacting with others through public dialogue can help you establish and nurture meaningful relationships, build professional credibility and awareness, strengthen your social capital, and support your colleagues.
