Make your next career move with your EYES WIDE OPEN.

1:1 career strategy for when "something's off" has gone on long enough.

You have more options, leverage, and agency than you might realize.

I'm not here to talk you into quitting, but I do want to help you see your situation clearly enough to make the call yourself. Staying is a valid decision. So is walking away or changing fields entirely.

It can be hard to see any of that clearly when you’re in the thick of it. Together, we will sort out your situation, explore your options, and weigh the tradeoffs, so you can make a call that’s truly yours.

The best choice for you is the one you can stand behind.

Recognize yourself here?

You went into your line of work to make something good, now it’s all about that sweet, sweet shareholder value.

You often fantasize about running away to live in a cave, and never working on a computer again.

You feel trapped by “golden handcuffs” or a desire to serve “the mission” at your own expense.

Your job is fine but it isn’t fulfilling. What you really want is to do something actually meaningful without torching your income.

You’re ready for something new after devoting 20 years to your field, but you can't see the throughline to what's next.

You're carrying out decisions you'd never make if they were yours.

You've tried better boundaries, managing up, and just riding it out. None of it makes a difference.

You’re being asked to build things you know will make the product worse for the people using it.

You left (or got pushed out of) the industry you thought you'd retire from, and it feels like starting from scratch.

The version of success you were chasing at 25 has lost its hold on you now that you’re 45.

HOW THE WORK UNFOLDS

Collaborative inquiry over quick fixes.

Some people arrive already deep in the questioning. Others have been sitting with a growing sense that something isn't adding up. Our work is tailored to wherever you are, but the guiding principles are the same. And because real life doesn’t pause while you sort this out, we’ll adjust our work as needed.

Think of this as a research project for your life.

1) RESEARCH

We start by gathering the data on your situation: your experiences, career throughline, current tensions, motivations and goals.

We’ll identify what's structural and what's in your control, and how well aligned your work is with what who you are and what you care about.

We’ll use exercises and frameworks where they fit, and keep pulling the threads until the possibilities come into focus.

2) ACT

Reflection and analysis only take you so far.

At some point, sitting with the questions stops being useful and you have to test your thinking against the real world.

You'll take deliberate action to put your ideas to the test and narrow your options.

The goal is to learn just enough and maintain a balanced pace without committing too soon.

3) DECIDE

By the end, you’ll have a framework for weighing your options that’s grounded in data, while trusting your own judgement to act on it.

Maybe you decide to stay, go, or build something on your own terms. Or you’ll have a stronger sense of what to explore next on your own.

Either way, it's a direction you can trust and feel good about, because you're the one who chose it.

Since 2020, I’ve supported hundreds of people with existential career decisions. Different industries, different roles, same underlying dynamics. You won’t be the first person to sit across from me with the questions you’re carrying. The specifics of your situation matter, but the patterns underneath don’t change much from one field to the next.

My clients are experienced professionals who come from tech, academia, government, civic tech, nonprofits, research, design, consulting, and all the in-between jobs that aren’t easily described.

All of which is to say:
bring the complicated version.

What Clients Say

Hi, I’m Amy! (she/her)

I offer a different kind of career strategy for people who’ve tried the obvious things. You need a clear read on your environment and a deliberate process for figuring out what to do about it. Rather than prioritize immediate action, we start with a generative deep dive into your values, priorities, goals, and trade-offs so the path forward is realistic so what you decide is realistic and rooted in what actually matters to you.

I’ve lived this work.

Fifteen years across a range of organizational environments means that I know how these places operate, not just how they claim to.

I’ve studied this.

I’m an anthropologist by training, which means I’m wired to see the relationship between individuals and the systems they’re inside of. It’s what makes my work different from the typical career coach peddling generic advice.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

You need more than time to think. You need a better way to think about it.

If you think this might be for you, let's find out. The next step is a conversation to discuss what it would look like to work together, and if I'm the right person to help. If not, I’ll point you to someone who can.
